Clarendon County Demographics
Clarendon County is located in east central South Carolina on Interstate 95. As of the 2000 U.S. Census, the population of the County was 32,502. The County Seat is the Town of Manning.

Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,802 km² (696 mi²)
1,573 km² (607 mi²) of it is land and 229 km² (88 mi²) of it is water.
The total area is 12.72% water.
As of the census of 2000, there are 32,502 people, 11,812 households, and 8,599 families residing in the county.
The population density is 21/km² (54/mi²).
There are 15,303 housing units at an average density of 10/km² (25/mi²).
The racial makeup of the county is 44.93% White, 53.14% Black or African American, 0.24% Native American, 0.26% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.88% from other races, and 0.52% from two or more races. 1.72% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 11,812 households out of which 31.40% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.50% are married couples living together, 19.80% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.20% are non-families. 24.60% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.30% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
The average household size is 2.62 and the average family size is 3.12.
In the county, the population is spread out with 25.70% under the age of 18, 10.50% from 18 to 24, 25.10% from 25 to 44, 24.70% from 45 to 64, and 14.00% who are 65 years of age or older.
The median age is 37 years.
For every 100 females there are 96.40 males.
For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 94.20 males.
The median income for a household in the county is $27,131, and the median income for a family is $33,951.
Males have a median income of $28,459 versus $20,011 for females.
The per capita income for the county is $13,998.

Town of Manning
The Town of Manning is located in the central section of Clarendon County, South Carolina.
As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 4,025. Manning is the county seat of Clarendon County
