The Clarendon Health System provides a full range of medical services to meet most any health and wellness needs. The system has almost 40 primary and specialized care physicians; services include surgery, cardiopulmonary treatment, radiology, rehabilitation, intensive care, emergency treatment, and a sleep lab.
In addition, two of South Carolina’s premier health care facilities are within an hour’s drive, giving the people of Clarendon County access to top specialists in a range of medical fields.
The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Medical Center, located in Charleston, comprises three separate hospitals: the University Hospital, the Institute of Psychiatry, and the Children's Hospital.
The Medical Center offers specialized care in areas including the heart, transplantation, cancer, and digestive diseases. MUSC has a distinguished reputation for its programs in neuroscience, cardiovascular medicine, perinatal medicine, burn care, ophthalmology, hearing loss, genetics, rheumatology, and cancer care.
McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence is recognized as one of the best hospitals in the country. The system boasts a nationally recognized cardiac care unit and a new state-of-the-art surgical tower. McLeod Cancer Center is the region's only program approved as a “Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program” by the American College of Surgeons.
